
Our Pastor
Reverend Alvin C. Carter, a native of Madison, Mississippi, was educated in the Madison County School District where he is a graduate of Madison Central High School. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Health and Recreation from Tougaloo College. He earned his Master of Arts degree in Theology & Biblical Studies from Liberty University and Master of Science degree in Education with a concentration in Health, Physical Education, and Recreation from Jackson State University in May 2022. He has completed further studies in Classroom Management from Mississippi College and Pastoral Counseling from Liberty University.
Reverend Carter is employed by his alma mater, Tougaloo College, where he serves as the Activity Director for the Title III Program/Curriculum Enhancement and Health, Physical Education, and Recreation Lecturer/Academic Advisor. In addition, he serves as the Faculty Athletic Representative (FAR), Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the Champions of Character Coordinator for the Department of Athletics. He was named FAR of the Year by the Gulf Coast Athletics Conference in 2023 and 2024 and HBCU FAR of the Year in 2025. He is a proud member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.
Reverend Carter was licensed and ordained by Reverend Dr. Matthew L. Canada at Pilgrim Rest M. B. Church in Madison, Mississippi. He has had course study through the Mississippi Baptist Seminary College and completed class and seminar training through the General Missionary Baptist State Convention of Mississippi and the National Baptist Convention USA, Inc. Congress of Christian Education. He previously served as a Youth Instructor for the Madison County Baptist Association of Churches Congress of Christian Education for several years. As a member of Pilgrim Rest M. B. Church, he formerly served as the Minister of Christian Education. Additionally, he and his wife served as Christian Couples Ministry Leaders.
Reverend Carter was called to Pastor at Beulah Grove M. B. Church in Leland, Mississippi in December 2022. He and his wife were presented the Key to the City of Leland, MS in January 2024. He is grateful for the opportunity to serve in this appointment. Since this time, he has been blessed with the opportunity to serve as an Instructor for the Jackson District Congress of Christian Education, the Washington County General Baptist Association Congress of Christian Education, and the Beulah Grove M. B. Church Christian Leadership School.
He was appointed to serve as the 2nd Vice Moderator for the Washington County General Baptist Association and Assistant Director/Oratorical Contest Director for the General Missionary Baptist State Convention of MS for the Youth and Young Adult Ministry. He received his Certificate of Completion for Dean Certification in the Certified Christian Educators Program through the Sunday School Publishing Board.
Reverend Carter is happily married to his wife, KaLandra. They have three daughters and two grandchildren. He enjoys spending time with his family, writing (which is one of his greatest passions), sharing encouraging words with young people, and most importantly, preaching and teaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ!
