Our Journey

Beulah Grove Missionary Baptist Church was founded in October 1947, led by Reverend F. T. Turner at 106 Tenth Street in Leland, Mississippi, starting with just nineteen members. In 1947, they established their own church, naming it Beulah in honor of Mrs. Carrie Wilson’s eldest child, one of the original members.

Among the early members were Pastor (Reverend F. T. Turner), Secretary (Sis. Ira Glander), Mother Board members (Lizzie Ferguson, Annie Underwood, and Josephine Parker), Deacon Board members (John Ferguson, Allen Underwood, Ernest Parker, Albert Thompson, Alex Bradshaw, and Jessie Williams), Usher Board members (Corine Bradshaw, Carrie Wilson, and Jessie Bell Howard), and Members (Betty Glander, Louis Williams, Julius Augusta, Lucy Turner – wife, Lula Williams, and Atlean Black).

On June 21, 1949, the cornerstone of the church was laid by M. W. King Hiram Grand Lodge, with membership having grown to fifty-six. The services were held monthly on fourth (4th) Sundays.

Service and Faith

“Beulah Grove is church where we serve God’s people together as we worship the
Lord in Spirit and in Truth by Preaching the Christ, Teaching the Congregation, and
Reaching the Community.”

"But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in
spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. God is Spirit, and those
who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”

Rev. F. T. Turner

Reverend F.T. Turner was an electrifying powerful man of God. He preached without a manuscript or a Bible. He was thoroughly equipped to preach the Gospel. His revivals were legendary. Acclaimed and honored men of the Gospel including Rev. H. C. Cherry, Rev. P. R. Johnson, Rev. John H. Johnson, and Rev. D. P. Parker all graced Beulah Grove’s pulpit with a mighty Word from God.

Rev. Leonard C. Adley

Reverend Leonard Charles Adley was elected in June 1975, and membership rose to two hundred and two. Rev. Adley was friendly, modest, and strong. He came with his wife Sister Ora Lee Adley and children Charles and Cassandra. LeDale was born after moving to the “new church.”

Beulah Grove was his third church. He previously pastored Greater Mt. Cora in Metcalfe, MS and Pleasant Hill in Panther Burn, MS. He later pastored Rose Hill in Anguilla, MS.

Rev. Gregory Tucker

Pastor Gregory Tucker, a native of Leland, MS, returned from Flint, MI with his wife Sister Betty Tucker. Weekly full-time worship services began in September 2007.

In September 2011, the second mortgage was paid off through “Good Faith Seed” donations, later renamed the 365 Building Fund in 2016.
