Reverend F. T. Turner

Rev. Turner was an electrifying powerful man of God. He preached without a manuscript or a Bible. He was thoroughly equipped to preach the Gospel. His revivals were legendary. Acclaimed and honored men of the Gospel including Rev. H. C. Cherry, Rev. P. R. Johnson, Rev. John H. Johnson, and Rev. D. P. Parker all graced Beulah Grove’s pulpit with a mighty Word from God.

Many souls professed a belief in the One True God and were blessed to be baptized in the beautiful clear waters of Lake Monocono in Leland. During his administration the church was affiliated with the National Baptist Convention, USA, INC and the Washington County General Baptist Association.

Beulah Grove was a member of the legendary Saturday Night Singing festivals, a community endeavor where local church choirs gathered on Saturday nights to give glory to God in songs, hymns, and spiritual songs. These festivals served as a means of refreshing, communicating, and fellowship.

During Rev. Turner’s administration, a Finance Room was added to the church and renovations made to the ladies’ bathroom.

On March 12, 1966, Beulah Grove M.B. Church and St. Matthew M.B. Church jointly established a Cemetery Club. One acre of land was purchased on Napanee Road for $250.00 from Rev. Daniel W. Maiten and wife Sis. Retha L. Maiten.

The initial Cemetery Club officers included President Deacon Aaron Pearl, Vice President Deacon Charlie Beck, Secretary Deacon Willie Barber, Assistant Secretary Sis. Collide Hyde, and Pastors Rev. T. B. F. Walker and Rev. F. T. Turner.

The current officers are President Deacon Marvin McMillian, Secretary Sis. Virginia McMillian Smith, Assistant Secretary Sis. Ruthie Wright, and current Pastors Rev. Aaron King and Rev. Alvin C. Carter.

​

The church faced a significant loss in February 1975 when its leader, Reverend F. T. Turner, passed away. Despite this sorrow, God blessed the church with a new leader, Rev. Leonard Charles Adley.
